With Lacazette looking likely to leave at the end of this season and Aubameyang not getting any younger, one of Arsenal’s next priorities in the transfer market will be to sign a new talisman to fire in the goals.
It seems as though Arsenal are looking quite long-term with that potential signing.
Having spent heavily in the summer on the likes of Tomiyasu, White, Tavares, Lokonga, Ramsdale and Odegaard. All very young.
Combine that transfer strategy with the excellent young talent already at the club and Arsenal’s future seems very brihgt. The on position where youth is not on our side is up top; Lacazette will be leaving at the end of this season it seems and Aubameyang will be 33 by the start of next season.
To fix that issue, Arsenal seem to have identified Dusan Vlahovic as confirmed by Fabrizio Romano.
Despite some reports suggesting Arsenal were in direct talks already, Romano stated that there are no talks yet. However, Arsenal are definitely one of a number of clubs interested. He also confirmed that Fiorentina would be looking for €70/80 million to sell their star man this January.
The young Serbian had a stellar breakthrough campaign with 21 goals in 34 starts in the Serie A last season and has made an impressive start to this season with 8 goals from his first 12 games.
He is a clinical, strong, physical striker whose strengths suit the Premier League at least in theory. He is tall and good in the air, yet is pretty quick and a tidy dribbler too. However, his best attribute is his finishing. When you see the kinds of goals he scores, he seems to always hit those corners.
He is still raw and has weaknesses; sometimes he tries to play his way out of impossible situations where as more experienced players in those situations would win a foul so their team keeps the ball. However, generally, I think he has a really bright future.
But what do you think Gooners? Do you think we should splash the cash on Vlahovic? Or would €70-80 million be spent on some other striker?
