Brentford v Arsenal Preview: Premier League Football Returns!

Arsenal begin their Premier League 2021/22 campaign away to Brentford this evening in what promises to be showstopper.

The attacking Brentford will play their first every Premier League match against an Arsenal side tasked with rediscovering past success.

Here is a look at what to expect from this curtain-raiser…


One of the key battles in this game will be how new signing Ben White can deal with the threat of Championship golden boot winner, Ivan Toney. White seems to be settling in well at Arsenal, but Toney will be full of confidence and will perhaps feel like he’s got a point to prove in his first ever top flight game.


One thing to keep an eye out for is whether or not Saka will play a role in today’s game. For most of pre-season we have seen Aubameyang on the left with Lacazette through the middle, though it’s possible we might see the returning Saka play on the left and Auba through the middle.


Considering his brilliant pre-season and the absence of Thomas Partey, I would be very surprised if we didn’t see Albert Sambi Lokonga given his first Arsenal start in this game. Here’s hoping he makes a brilliant first impression.


4-2-3-1: Leno, Chambers, White, Mari, Tierney, Lokonga, Xhaka, Pepe, Smith Rowe, Saka, Aubameyang


With Chelsea and Man City up next, we HAVE to win this one and I have got a good feeling we will. Brentford are a dangerous side who will try and attack us, but with White and Lokonga playing through that press we should be able to create chances. That being said, Brentford will pose a threat on the counter so I am going for a 2-1 victory to Arsenal.
