Arsenal seek deal for cut-price £37 million Bayern Munich midfielder

As Arsenal’s summer rebuild drags on, who we end up signing in the remaining couple of weeks of the transfer window remains unclear.

The priority still seems to be a creative midfielder, with James Maddison the top target this summer. However, other areas still seem to need addressing. In an ideal world, we would end this world with a backup keeper, a new starting right back, a creative midfielder, a new striker and a partner for Thomas Partey.

The latter seems to be one that has gone quiet recently, until now. L’equipe have reported that Bayern Munich are desperate to sell Corentin Tolisso this summer. So much so that a fee as little as €10 million could be enough to sign the player. That bargain price has put the French national player right on Arsenal’s radar according to L’equipe.

For that fee, it would be tough to say it would be a bad deal. Considering Bayern spent £37 million on him a few years ago.

In fact, I think he would be a good fit at Arsenal if money is getting tight and it is difficult to bring in a more expensive option. He has struggled for game time in the last couple of years in Germany, though is clearly still held in high regard as shown by his ability to hold down a place in the French national team.

My only concern is his injury record. His entire career has been riddled with a wide range of injuries; Arsenal will need to be well informed before making a move for Tolisso.
