Arsenal linked with £34 million Hector Bellerin replacement

Arsenal’s so far hopeless search for a right-back continues this summer. Arsenal have three right-backs at the club right now, four if you include Ainsley Maitland Niles. However, none of them have really done enough to suggest they are good enough to make that spot their own.

With that in mind, there have been no end of links this summer. Max Aarons, Zeki Celik, Tariq Lamptey and many more have all been linked with a move to Arsenal this summer.

According to the Sun, Arsenal are interested in signing Atletico Madrid’s Kieran Trippier.

The 30-year-old could be available for transfer this summer, though Atletico want a hefty fee for him. £34 million is what they want for their right back.

This is a strange and confusing link; no doubt I think he is a huge improvement on what we have at the club. However, so far Arsenal have been linked with players under 24. He will be 31 next month, and in my opinion £34 million would be borderline extortion.

However, if a deal can be struck at around £20 million, maybe it would be a good deal. His game does not rely on his pace or athleticism; instead, his strengths are his reading of the game and his delivery. In that sense, I believe he can still perform at a high level for us for a few years.

It would be interesting and better than not signing any right back, but it has to be for the right price. £34 million would be far better spent elsewhere.
