Arsenal eye £30 million midfield destroyer to partner Thomas Partey

As things drag on, it appears more and more likely that Locatelli will be unwilling to compromise on his desire to join Juventus.

As such, Arsenal’s pursuit of a new DM to sit next to Thomas Partey in this new-look Arsenal side next season. Bissouma and Neves have both been linked, but both are thought to be alternatives to other targets.

One of those other targets is thought to be Bruno Guimares of Lyon. The French club appear desperate to raise funds this summer having missed out on Champions League qualification. Multiple reports, initially by @simpraisa on Twitter, revealed yesterday that Lyon would be willing to sell Guimares for £30 million.

I see him honestly as the perfect partner for Thomas Partey. He is young, versatile and very talented. We got used to Elneny or Xhaka next to Partey; this will be chalk and cheese. Xhaka and Elneny had their moments, but they both played it safe with their passing.

Bruno Guimares reads the game impeccably well; that’s the first job of a DM. But, he is also very skillful and confident on the ball with a good passing range. He will be comfortable passing or running through an opposition press to try and launch attacks.

He carries the ball forward really well, much like Partey. In fact, if we have these two at the base of our midfield, all we need is to make sure we make the right signings further up the pitch and we will be fine next season. Also, having two great DM’s means they can take turns in getting forward/staying back, meaning we can get the best out of our fullbacks pushing on as well.

With Guimares, Partey and White at the base of our team and Odegaard/Maddison, Saka, Smith Rowe, Pepe and potentially Martinez ahead of them, we could be a real danger next season.
