This is some really interesting news!
Arsenal are potentially looking for a new long term striker this summer, and Tammy Abraham appears to be a priority.
In fact, some reports are suggesting that Arsenal are on the verge/have agreed a deal for him. It would be a season long loan with an obligation to make it permanent next summer.
However, reports on this are very mixed. The Sun say the deal is as good as done. Fabrizio Romano says that talks are not advanced, however, he did confirm that Arsenal appreciate the player and Chelsea are aware of the interest.
This is an interesting one. I do think that we need to start thinking about a new striker. Nketiah and Lacazette both have jut one year left on their contracts, Aubameyang is getting older, and as much as I’d love to say let’s just play Martinelli and Balogun, I do believe right now is too soon for either of them to be so heavily relied upon.
However, is Tammy Abraham the answer. Stylistically he is similar to Alexsander Isak who we have also been interested in. It shows that Arteta has an idea in mind for the striker; he wants someone physical enough to hold the ball up and bring others into play, yet someone dynamic and mobile enough to cause more threats than just this.
But you have to question, he could hardly get a game at points last season with Tuchel opting for Werner, Giroud and Havertz as a striker before Abraham, none of whom exactly had great seasons. He is a good player but is he likely to become a great striker which we ideally need.
Instead, I think Arsenal pay the extra £20 million to sign Isak; he has a much higher ceiling.
