Arsenal offer £200k contract to £60 million midfield target

Having announced the deal for Nuno Tavares, many fans are expecting our summer to really kick up a gear.

Many reports yesterday suggested exactly that.

The AFC Bell broke the news on Twitter yesterday that James Maddison’s camp are expecting a move from Arsenal this summer and would be open to a move to the Emirates.

In fact, the reports went as far as to confirm that Arsenal have already got a compelling offer lined up for Maddison. He has been promised a 4+1 year deal of £200k per week and the coveted number 10 shirt.

The stumbling block for Arsenal will be the fee paid to Leicester with the Foxes wanting more than £60 million according to most reports.

However, all the early signs point towards a lot of money being available for Arsenal this summer, and this would be a phenomenal signing.

A new creative midfielder is clearly a priority this summer and Maddison seems to be top of the list. He is young, English, proven in the Premier League and so effective particularly in the final third.

Some fans have criticised the value for money of this potential deal, but with certain players paying a premium is fair enough. In fact, how many times have Arsenal looked for a bargain to solve a problem; signing an unproven player from abroad which could end up being a real hit or miss. Paying extra to sign someone who would come in and have an instant impact would be really refreshing.
