Arsenal weigh up £60 million bid for new attacking midfielder target

I think Arsenal fans can start to get a bit more excited as this summer window starts to now kick into a higher gear.

It was thought going into this window that Martin Odegaard was going to be our top target. However, once the reports came out that he was likely to stay at Madrid, Arsenal turned to other targets.

And with Aston Villa signing one of those targets in Emi Buendia, Arsenal have identified Leicester’s James Maddison as our top target this summer.

The 24 year old no doubt would bring goals and assists to a midfield that struggled in that sense last season. However, he would not come cheap. Some reports suggest we have already made a bid of around £51 million, however most reports simply suggest we are very interested and could make a move soon.

TheAFCBell first reported our interest and have no reported that he is a top priority this summer, with Arsenal considering a £60 million.

Adrian Kajumba reported that the fee would be in excess of £60 million.

So for £60 million, is he worth it? In my opinion yes. Sure, like the Ben White deal, we’d be paying a little bit over the going rate. But, last season this was our biggest problem area, so much so we needed to promote Smith Rowe and sign Odegaard on loan to fix that problem. It makes sense if you are going to overpay for any target, it is one that would make the biggest difference.

He is still very young yet has plenty of Premier League experience. He is a set piece danger, a clever dribbler, a smart playmaker and has an undeniable eye for goal, especially from range.
