Arsenal keeping tabs on £31.5 million midfielder according to Sky Italy

Arsenal’s midfield pursuit has now seen a really promising development.

With the likes of Xhaka, Guendouzi and Torreira all set to depart this summer, we will need at least a couple of really serious additions in midfield to replace them.

Neves and Bissouma have already been linked, but Manuel Locatelli of Sassuolo is the most recent target.

Sky Italia have reported that we are keeping tabs on the 23-year-old as a potential partner for Thomas Partey next year.

He registered 4 goals and 3 assists in the Serie A last season and that’s not too bad for a defensive midfielder.

The player has a transfer value of £31.5 million and for that kind of price he would be a great acquisition for us. He is a real warrior defensively and is even very comfortable on the ball and carrying it forward, meaning he could be a bit more of a box to box threat than Xhaka was for us.

However, it might get trickier to sign him. With Italy set to play their first game against Turkey tonight and Locatelli likely to start, each Euro game that passes (especially if he has a good tournament) will gradually attract more interest and increase his cost.

Either way I think he would be a really good option for us.
