Fabrizio Romano confirms interest in £40 million playmaker

Arsenal are set for an important summer and one of the most important areas where they will need to strengthen is in midfield. Defensively, we have not been too bad this season, but we have scored the fewest goals from midfield of any Premier League side.

This has to improve next season and one way that would go down well with Arsenal fans is signing Emi Buendia of Norwich. The 24-year-old Argentine comes off the back of two stellar campaigns with Norwich. One in the Premier in 2019/20, where alongside the likes of Trent, De Bruyne and Grealish he was one of the most creative in the league.

In 2020/21, he was pivotal in bringing Norwich back to the Premier League with an impressive 15 goals and 16 assists, and therefore could really help add some goals to our midfield. He ended the season as the Championship player of the year; I don’t doubt he will be excellent wherever he goes.

The good news for Arsenal fans is reliable journalist Fabrizio Romano has confirmed Arsenal’s interest in the player. Romano confirmed that we opened talks about a move for Buendia in December, and have now began discussions again.

It is thought that Buendia would accept an offer from Arsenal and is waiting for Arsenal to meet Norwich’s asking price, which is as yet unclear. Though some previous reports suggested Norwich might hold out for as much as £40 million.

It goes without saying, I think this would be an excellent signing. Some Arsenal fans are worrying we might play him on the right, but with Saka and Pepe already there, I highly doubt it.

My thinking is he will either be used behind the striker, or in the deeper number 8 role that Santi Cazorla did so well. Either way, signing him would be an incredible start to the summer window when it opens.
