After KSE played their part in signing Arsenal up for the proposed European Super League, there has been a real momentum at Arsenal to get the Kroenke family to sell Arsenal.
Then, just days later the news broke that Swedish billionaire Daniel Ek was preparing a bid to buy Arsenal and had the backing of Thierry Henry, Dennis Bergkamp and Patrick Vieira to do so.
This naturally got all Arsenal fans really excited; an Arsenal fan to own the club and have club legends back involved in the running of the club.
However, KSE maintained their stance that Arsenal were not for sale. Ek confirmed on Twitter that he had made what he thought was a compelling offer, but this offer was turned down. The offer was rumoured to be in the region of £1.8 billion.
BUT THERE IS STILL HOPE!
On the ITV football podcast, Patrick Vieira gave an insight on the matter.
“He’s definitely going to try again.
“He is going to be there for quite a long time. He’s a massive Arsenal fan. And talking to him a couple of times his desire and his commitment to Arsenal football club will be fantastic.
“Obviously, if the club is not for sale there is nothing that he can do but he’s going to be there and he’s going to wait and he wants to buy the club.“
Vieira added that he worries for the future of Arsenal if the club were not to be sold, as this is a critical moment in our club’s history.
Overall, it is rather bittersweet news. It lets Arsenal fans know that Ek is still really interested in owning Arsenal, despite his opening offer being turned down. However, it also confirmed that this is going to take a long time to get done.
