Arteta wants to sign £30 million striker with 26 goals this season

As rumours linking Eddie Nketiah and Lacazette with moves away from the Emirates, it is becoming quite clear that one area of the pitch where Arteta wants to improve is up top.

Naturally, we will still have Aubameyang and Martinelli, however neither of these players a used to playing as a traditional number 9. Meanwhile, Balogun may not even be at the club. Even if he is, I doubt he will be ready to start every week for Arsenal.

This begs the question, which striker should we go out and sign? We have been consistently linked with the same handful of names. Donyell Malen of PSV and Patson Daka of RB Salzburg are two of these players. However, these rumours have eased somewhat in the last couple of months.

Now, it looks like we have narrowed down our list to two main targets. Odsonne Edouard of Celtic is one of these. He would likely cost somewhere around £20 million to sign him. However, he is being courted by a number of clubs and there is a chance that Arsenal could miss out.

Instead, therefore, Arteta is reportedly turning his attention to Ivan Toney of Brentford. The 24-year-old English striker has 26 goals and 9 assists in just 33 Championship starts this season. An impressive tally which sees him top scorer in the second division.

He is a promising player of real quality and is very clinical. These qualities would reportedly come at a steep price of £30 million. However, this might be less if Brentford fail to get promoted.

Would you take him at Arsenal?
