Arsenal are set to have a crucial summer which will ultimately determine whether or not we can kick on under Arteta and start challenging for titles again over the coming years.
There is a lot of players which need to be sold and a number which need to be brought in.
That situation is very similar to that of Inter Milan who apparently need to sell a number of players to balance the books.
Arsenal-linked Achraf Hakimi is one of those. The Moroccan came through the ranks at Real Madrid and was reward with a loan move to Inter. However, it then quickly became clear he was too good to be a benchwarmer but perhaps not quite ready to replace Dani Carvajal. Inter then made that loan move perfect.
He is a young player who could potentially solve a number of issues for Arsenal. Primarily, he would be signed as a replacement for Bellerin should the Spaniard move to PSG or Barcelona this summer, which is looking increasingly likely.
Arsenal have some cheaper options to solve this problem such as Lamptey for a rumoured £25 million, but it’s apparently Hakimi’s versatility which is tempting Arsenal to make a move.
He can play as an attacking full back, a wing back, a winger and has even been used as an inverted full back on the left. Therefore, he could also provide cover for Tierney.
Overall, it is a signing I would love to see at Arsenal. I would argue that he is more suited to a wing back system, though I feel like even as a pure right back he would be a significant improvement on Bellerin. Our defensive issues are getting fixed under Arteta; especially with Saliba and potentially Konate joining the squad, we need the focus of our full backs to be getting forward and making things happen in the final third. Hakimi has 6 goals and 4 assists from 19 starts this season.
