Having wrapped up the signing of a creative midfielder, with only the announcement pending for Martin Odegaard, Arsenal will now turn their attentions to getting someone who can cover for Tierney at left-back, with only six days to go in the transfer window. Latest reports suggest that the two names under consideration are Ryan Bertrand and Jordan Amavi.
While Arsenal may look to sign Ryan Bertrand from Southampton, whom they face tomorrow, rumours about Jordan Amavi have just surfaced, with L’Equipe reporting that the Gunners are interested in the 26-year-old. Napoli and Crystal Palace are the other clubs interested.
“L’Équipe report that a troika of clubs have made contact with 26-year-old French left-back Jordan Amavi, whose contract with Marseille expires in June. OM Head of Football Pablo Longoria has been negotiating with the player’s representatives over a possible contract extension, but talks are at a dead end.”

During Amavi’s 2015-2017 spell with Villa, he suffered an ACL tear while playing for the French Under-21 team, and Villa were relegated to the Championship. However, the Frenchman has impressed at Marseille as a first-team regular.
Bertrand has six months left on his Southampton contract, so Arsenal could be looking to pounce if Southampton are unable to extend his deal.
There’s no doubt that Kieran Tierney is a stellar left back who has earned his place on the team sheet. However, following the departure of Kolasinac to Schalke, Arsenal are short in this position. Saka plays a massive role in Arsenal’s attack and can no longer cover in defence unless in a desperate situation. Cedric and Maitland-Niles can cover as well, but both prefer to play on the right.
