We’re excited to bring you the live Arsenal transfer updates from this Transfer Deadline Day! Hopefully, it’ll be a good one, with Arteta saying after the Sheffield United game that he, Edu, and the board are working hard to get something done.

Just keep refreshing this page to catch our updates as they come!

9 PM: No stress.

7.30 PM: It’s all done. La Liga have confirmed to Atletico that Arsenal activated Thomas’s clause. Player is in London now. We can all take a breather and relax while we wait for the big announcement.

6.15 PM: From AFC Bell on Twitter: “Thomas Partey successfully passed the initial medical checks in Madrid! The player and his agent will travel to London tonight to complete the second part of the medical examinations, sign the contract, and end the formalities such as photos, interviews, and others. After all this is done, the player will fly to Turkey to join the Ghana national team mission.”

5.35 PM: As we wait for news on that Thomas Partey medical, the departures are picking up pace. Matteo Guendouzi is now officially a Hertha Berlin player, on loan, while Torreira is almost an Atletico player. Marco Conterio of TuttoMercatoWeb reports that the contract has been signed (so only a matter of time until Atletico announce him).

5.30 PM: Another youngster has joined Arsenal.

5 PM: Sead Kolašinac will not be joining Bayer Leverkusen from Arsenal today [Kicker]

3.03 PM: Sokratis to Roma and Saliba back to St Etienne (loan) are now picking up pace…

2.45 PM: James Benge: “Partey medical set to take place soon, likely in Madrid. As reported back in July, the idea of playing in the Premier League for a club like Arsenal under a manager like Arteta proved very enticing.”

2.33 PM: Paul Merson: “I almost fell off my chair.. 45 million… I don’t think that’s a lot of money at all for the quality of player you’re getting.”

Also besides Partey, there’s another arrival:

1.50 PM: This Deadline Day Partey may actually be happening! DAVID ORNSTEIN SPEAKS –
Arsenal make late move to sign Thomas Partey from Atletico Madrid. Contacted 27yo camp expressing intention to pay clause. #AFC making all necessary arrangements (medical in Spain etc) + optimistic.

1.34 PM UK: 9.5 hours to go.

Cadena COPE journalist Antonio Ruiz: Last minute!!!! Arsenal has communicated their intention to pay the player’s clause and shortly should proceed to the payment.

Is Partey actually going to happen?! Sky Sports just reported that Arsenal are still very much trying to make this happen. Meanwhile, players are being released on loan to facilitate this. No breakthrough yet. These are the tweets everyone is talking about (the 2nd one will ask you to hit Translate but it is absolutely crucial):

11.03 AM UK: It’s picking up here. Sky Sports News have given us more hope, with reporter Emma Paton claiming that the Thomas Partey deal is “not dead just yet”, while Jorginho is “one to keep an eye on”. Atletico Madrid are “holding firm” on the release clause for Partey, the full 50 million euros, and will not sell for less. We’ve got about 12 hours to go.

David Ornstein has also spoken about Guendouzi’s loan to Hertha Berlin, saying there is “no loan fee”. But looks like the loan move is very much happening.

Also, not the biggest update ever, mostly because I didn’t even know we were interested in this player:

5.03 AM UK: Obviously, it’s too early for news right now. But here’s what Arteta said after the game – “We have a complete connection and cohesion between Edu and myself, the board and the ownership, so let’s see what happens in the next 36 hours.”

Player most recently linked to Arsenal is Lille’s Soumare, more on that here.

18 hours to go.
