Arsenal transfer news: Manchester United have already held talks with Adrien Rabiot

Those who follow the Arsenal transfer news closely will know one key pattern tends to emerge; that being the pursuit for a midfielder. It seems that Mikel Arteta is focused on not only adding tactical stability but also stability in depth to this area of the pitch. After all, he is in the best position to judge what it takes to be a revolutionary midfielder for Arsenal.

Granit Xhaka and Lucas Torreira are pretty much guaranteed a place in the starting XI under Arteta, although there is a risk of losing the Argentine midfielder this summer. His agent recently come out to say he may have to talk with the club about a move back to Italy for his client.

There have been many names thrown around as to who could replace Torreira, or who could simply be signed as another midfield option. Orkun Kokcu and Thomas Partey tend to top the list, but Adrien Rabiot of Juventus has also been thrown in recently.

According to the Mirror, Manchester United have now begun talks with Adrien Rabiot’s agent over a potential move. The outcome of the discussions is yet to be revealed but one thing’s for sure, Arsenal must act quick if they are sure Rabiot is their man.

Manchester United can certainly outperform Arsenal financially, this goes without saying as they are one the strongest economic forces in world football. This also means they would be able to justify higher wages. That said, the Gunners could persuade Rabiot to be a key figurehead to Arteta’s new project and having come close to signing Rabiot in the past, the player will know the club well.

Rabiot, I would assume, can be difficult to negotiate with. He has a fiery attitude about him which can be seen in a multitude of backstage clashes. However, this resonates on the pitch too as he often sets the stage for Juventus and Paris Saint-Germain in the past.
