Dani Ceballos hints that he will not sign permanently for Arsenal

One of Arsenal’s bigger signings in the summer transfer window was signing Dani Ceballos from Real Madrid, albeit only on loan. He had a great start to his Arsenal career under Unai Emery, however, as time progressed, Ceballos’ performances grew more and more average. Of course, he was not helped by the big injury he had which saw him sidelined for most of the season.

Mikel Arteta did try to reincorporate him back into the starting XI upon his arrival but it was short-lived due to the Coronavirus outbreak. Now this begs the question; will Arsenal choose to sign Dani Ceballos or allow him to return back to his former club?

Well, it would seem that Ceballos is making this decision easier for the Gunners. According to a new report from the Mirror, the Spanish midfielder has hinted that he wants to see out the remaining three years (at least) of his contract at the Santiago Bernabeu. Arsenal will likely honour this decision, since signing him would require money that the Gunners simply cannot afford at this point in time.

Ceballos will leave Arsenal this summer, then, but it won’t be a bitter farewell. If anything, the fans should be thankful to have housed a player of Ceballos’ technical ability and commitment to the fans, whereas Ceballos will take a lot from the English game which will help his development in Spain.

It may not have been exactly smooth-sailing for Ceballos in an Arsenal shirt, but I have no doubt he will develop into a true star at Real Madrid under the tutelage of one of the best to ever play in his position, Zinedine Zidane. Thanks for your service, Dani!
