Alexandre Lacazette denies rumour about his future

Alexandre Lacazette and his agents have both publicly denied a rumour linking the Frenchman to Atletico Madrid. Lacazette’s agents commented on a tweet claiming that Lacazette had spoken to Antoine Griezmann to obtain information about Atletico Madrid. The comment translates to: “Twitter is magic! It’s not nice to lie to fans of Atletico”. Lacazette then replies himself, saying: “Not nice at all!”

Lacazette has been heavily linked with Atletico even though Arsenal’s other star striker, Aubameyang, could be on the way out as well. Whether both stay, both go, or one leaves, only time will tell. Lacazette has scored 45 times for Arsenal since he joined in 2017 and paired up beautifully with Aubameyang last season, forming an attacking partnership that could scare any Premier League defence. Despite his drop in form this season, he would represent a big loss for Arsenal if a move did materialise. While Arsenal could replace his goals internally, with the likes of Gabriel Martinelli getting more and more playing time, there have been rumours of interest in strikers like Celtic’s Odsonne Edouard (22), who has taken the Scottish Premiership by storm.

Lacazette’s departure could raise funds for Arsenal to carry out important transfer business. If he stays, however, he will certainly be an important part of Arteta’s plans. Meanwhile, there are other options to raise cash.

According to Corriere dello Sport, Mkhitaryan’s agent has been negotiating a permanent move to Roma, and Arsenal are finally convinced that selling him for £10 million, less than they had initially asked for (roughly £20 million), would be better than not selling him at all. The Italian paper also released quotes from the Armenian winger, who has spent this season at Roma on loan from Arsenal:
